Card payment facilities reduce costs for operators
and queuing for driverS
Small footprint makes additional model ideal for
multiple installations, prestige
locations, and wherever space is limited
UK Headquarters,
April 23 2008 – Parkeon is demonstrating a new compact version of its Varioflex®
pay station that only accepts card payments at Parkex 2008. This latest version has been introduced as
more people are choosing to pay for parking using a credit or debit card rather
than cash at particular locations.
“With the increasing cost of
parking, especially in city centres and at hotels, stations and airports, the
majority of payments will be made by credit or debit cards”,
explains Bob Barnes, Parkeon’s
UK Geomarket Director. “Card usage is
related to the value of the transaction.
If it’s less than £5, then motorists are more likely to use cash: above
that figure, and they’re more likely to reach for a card.”
As Parkeon has been able to
dispense with the cash processing and handling facilities in this latest version, the Company has been
able to reduce the width by almost 50% compared to the standard model. This makes it ideal wherever multiple pay
stations are required, e.g. at airports, exhibition halls, and entertainment
venues. The machine’s compact dimensions
will enable operators to install a greater number of machines in order to
reduce queuing.
The compact Varioflex is also
ideal for prestige locations, e.g. hotel foyers, where space may be an issue
and its compact footprint and discreet appearance make for a more unobtrusive installation.
There are additional benefits
for parking operators in reducing the volumes of cash they have to handle. Card payments limit the scope for theft and
fraud. They also help to loweroperating costs by decreasing the amount of cash that
has to be collected, counted, sorted and deposited.
New reader handles damaged
tickets
Parkeon has developed a new reader
capable of handling damaged or wet tickets for its range of Varioflex pay stations
and exit terminals. The rejection of
such tickets is probably the most frequent event that has drivers seeking
assistance from parking attendants. The
new reader will minimise these calls, increasing customer satisfaction, whilst reducing the
number of visits required by service engineers.
