Dallas, TX, June 1, 2008 – At the 2008 IPI Show, Parkeon, Parkeon, the world’s leading provider of integrated on-street parking systems, introduced their first American-made multi-space parking meter. Currently, there are over 13,000 European made Parkeon pay stations in the U.S., but plans are to manufacture new Strada pay stations at Flextronics in Plano, TX.
In September 2006, Blackpool Transport and NoWcard sent live the world’s first network-wide ITSO Smartcard system – chip-bearing passes that give concessionary pass holders free travel and which are automatically recognised when held close to a bus ticket machine. The ITSO-based smart card has since been adopted by the government as the standard for all England’s concessionary passes. The Blackpool-trialled system has now handled over 15 million successful smart transactions and has been rolled out to nearly every bus in Lancashire & Cumbria.
