Moorestown, NJ, March 20, 2009 – Parkeon, the world’s leading provider of integrated on-street parking systems, is proud to announce that Ian Newberg has been promoted to the position of President, Parkeon, Inc.

In his former role as Parkeon’s National Sales Director, Ian oversaw and restructured Parkeon’s Business Development team in order to increase sales of multi-space parking systems.  Since Ian took over, Parkeon, Inc. has posted a revenue increase of approximately 80%.  Additionally, he was involved in the largest parking smart card program in the United States, the New York City Parking Card, and has been facilitating the introduction of contactless smart cards for use in on-street solar multi-space pay stations.

Ian joined Parkeon in 2006 after more than a decade with Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. where he was in charge of Cubic’s US Eastern Regional office, managing various business segments including operations, testing, and sales.  During his time at Cubic, Ian was responsible for the implementation of several transit system initiatives, including Washington D.C. Metro’s contactless smart card program (“SmarTrip”) and Atlanta’s Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System “Breeze” contactless smart card project.

As you can see, smart card implementations are a specialty of Ian’s, which is one reason why he was recently elected as Vice Chair (Parking) of the Smart Card Alliance’s Transportation Council. Additionally, he is a graduate of the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Leadership program.

While he is excited about this opportunity, Ian also recognizes the challenges ahead of him.  “Our business is growing more complex all the time”, says Ian. “If we want to remain the leader in the industry, we have to stay on top of where the market is going, and develop the intricate parking systems customers are seeking.”

Parkeon is a key player in global parking and transport management solutions. With a 35+ year history in the sector, the company is at the forefront of innovation, and has a presence in 40 countries and 3,000 cities worldwide.

Parkeon’s portfolio of products and systems are designed to ease congested streets and facilitate traffic flow.  As a global leader in payment and ticketing solutions for parking and mass transit,  Parkeon has played a significant role in the development of multi-space parking technology.
