Parkeon launched the first Swiss contactless parking meters in Lausanne. One hundred twenty five terminals are already installed.
No PIN before fourty francs
These new models of parking meters offer three payment modes: cash, classic credit card or through contactless PayPass technology developed by Mastercard. No code is required for amounts less than fourty francs. "Beyond this limit, you must enter your PIN for security reasons" explained the spokesman of Mastercard Europe.
A pioneering model
One hundred fourty Strada parking meters equipped with Paypass will manage two thousand five hundred parking spaces in the city. The capital of the Canton de Vaud is the first Swiss city to install this kind of terminal, but other cities could be interested. "We hope that the new parking meters in Lausanne will inspire other Swiss cities" said Erwan Bizien, Parkeon salesman.
