Staff from
Parkeon Ltd., visited Poole Hospital recently to hand over a cheque for
over £2400, the proceeds from the Poole Company’s Christmas party
raffle.
Kim Coleman, Fundraising Manager for the Trust, said: “We are most appreciative of the continued support from Parkeon, and all donations have been used to improve patient care and comfort.” This year, the Company requested that half of the money be given to the Hospital’s Emergency Department. “The young son of one of our team recently received the most fantastic treatment in the A&E department and we thought this was a great opportunity to say an extra, ‘Thank you’,” explained Bruno Smith, Parkeon’s Global HR Director. “The other half was donated to the cardiac unit, which also has a special significance for us.” About the Wish List The Poole Hospital Wish List was set up in 2004 to raise money for hospital equipment. It is an ongoing scheme that raises funds for all wards and departments throughout Poole Hospital. Each ward has a ‘wish list’ of equipment that it needs in order to give the best possible quality patient care; people raising money for the Wish List are able to give to individual wards and departments, and can even specify particular pieces of equipment they would like to raise money for. About Poole Hospital Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an acute general hospital with 789 beds. The Hospital mainly serves the 272,000 people living in Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck. It is the major trauma centre for East Dorset and provides a broad range of district hospital care and a number of core services - ear, nose & throat, child health and maternity - for a wider catchment area, including Bournemouth and Christchurch. The Hospital also provides specialist services, such as oral surgery and neurological care, for the whole of Dorset, and is the Cancer Centre for Dorset. We have a unique philosophy embedded in the ‘Poole Approach’. This has shaped its development as a friendly, patient-centred organisation that continually strives to improve services Last year we treated 46,815 inpatients, 17,597 day cases, 172,710 out patients and 56,557 people attended accident and emergency. At least 85 per cent of admissions are unplanned emergency cases. As the major trauma centre for East Dorset, the Hospital provides services for all medical, elderly, surgical and child health emergency admissions.
