Parkeon has increased its presence in the off-street parking solutions market by winning six significant Pay on Foot contracts over the past two months. Parkeon will install its Varioflex system in car parks for Cambridge City Council , Harwich Port, Southend Hospital and Torbay Council, along with a full replacement of all equipment at NinewellsHospital in Dundee, via Parking Operator, Vinci Park. Parkeon has also won the order to extend its existing system at “The O2” entertainment venue, equipping an additional car park. All these systems will be installed during the autumn of 2008. Southend University NHS Foundation Trust has ordered a Varioflex system for its new 900-space Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP), that is being built to improve access to Southend Hospital in Essex on an existing 300-space surface facility. Seven automatic pay stations will be installed in the new car park, which is an integral part of the Trust’s plans to improve and expand medical facilities at the site. Varioflex terminals and barriers will control access on eight entries and nine exits at the hospital, whilst two Varioflex servers will centralise management of the expanded parking facilities. These will enable the Trust to introduce a range of special concessionary season tickets, e.g. for those with long-term illnesses and their visitors. Furthermore, an entry barrier, operated by contactless proximity card controlled zone readers, will facilitate speedy access for ambulances. In the interim, Parkeon has supplied a number of entry and exit terminals and barriers to control access to the hospital’s existing parking facilities. Following extensive competition, Cambridge City Council has awarded Parkeon the contract to install 14 Varioflex automatic pay stations across four fully centralised multi-level car parks comprising 2,000 spaces. Three of the car parks are part of a £2 million refurbishment of the City’s Grand Arcade Shopping Centre. These pay stations, together with terminals and barriers on the car parks’ four entry and seven exit lanes, will be centrally monitored in the Centre’s new control room via a central control Varioflex server. This will be integrated with a fully centralised Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system in all four car parks, to reduce ticket fraud and vehicle theft. The new pay stations will enable the Council to introduce a range of concessionary season ticket schemes, as well as handling credit and debit cards, coins and bank notes. The proven long term reliability and easy upgradeability of Varioflex made it the perfect choice for Harwich International Port, when continuous maintenance problems with its existing equipment, forced the operator to seek a more dependable solution. Whilst the two Varioflex automatic pay stations, recently installed, currently handle cash only, credit and debit cards facilities may be added in the future. In Torbay, Varioflex will be installed in the Harbour Car Park after Torbay Council purchased the system through the Devon Procurement Partnership (DPP) tender process. Parkeon won a 10-year supply tender to provide pay on foot solutions under the DPP scheme, which is designed to reduce the workload for individual Councils in the region. They will not have to release their own tenders for equipment procured via the Partnership. Participants also benefit from bulk purchasing rates negotiated by the DPP via the supply tender process.. The Varioflex system in Torbay will be equipped with zone readers, providing a “nested area” in the Harbour Car Park that enables local hoteliers to provide guests with reserved spaces., using passes, valid for the duration of their visits. The provision of these parking spaces, boosts the “Star” ratings of participating establishments. The Council benefits from an advance revenue stream, as the hotels and guesthouses pay for annual space charges in advance The Car Park will be equipped with two automatic pay stations. At Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Parkeon will replace existing pay on exit and pay and display equipment with a fully centralised, six car park Varioflex system. The system comprises of eleven entry/exit devices and five automatic pay stations. It is configured so that it will be able to connect to Vinci Park’s nationwide, centralised system, as it rolls out during the next six months. Parkeon’s system at the O2 has had one existing car park re-configured, with a new layout and one new car park added. This required two new entry/exit machines and two extra automatic pay stations, to be added to the existing eleven payment units. The system was supplied via Fitzpatrick, as part of their O2 re-development project.
