Before we begin to design equipment, we introduce the eco-design process. This involves experts in materials, components, engineering, power management, and IT systems. Our goal is to minimize the environmental impact of the product over its lifecycle: from material choice through manufacturing, to installation logistics and on-street operations, all the way to removal and recycling when that time finally arrives.
When it does come time to retire a Parkeon parking meter (usually not for at least 10 years), over 95% of the meter can be recycled. And rest assured, our solar-recharging batteries are 100% recyclable, just like standard car batteries, when they, too, finally reach end-of-life.
Solar Power Expertise
Parkeon has lead the way in the research and deployment of sophisticated solar power management, introducing our first solar powered ticketing machines in 1995. We've gotten so good at it that our solar panel requires just 2 hours of ambient daylight to re-charge the meter's battery and provide all the functionality you need on-street. That means our parking meters work in clouds, rain, shade, snow, and more.
Parkeon has deployed over 120,000 solar powered multi-space parking meters throughout the world. In the US, you can find solar powered Parkeon pay stations in every climate, from Boston to Miami to Austin to Seattle so there is no doubt our solar powered parking solution will work in your city.
