The company is the first ITSO POST (Point of Service Terminal) supplier to gain ITSO V2.1.4 certification for its Wayfarer200 on-vehicle ticketing platform.
"The upgraded ITSO standard includes a number of technical enhancements that will provide bus operators with an improved implementation pathway and as such it has been a key objective of Parkeon to be the first in the market to achieve certification," says Parkeon Transit Managing Director Owen Griffith. "This milestone further supports our position as the leading ITSO ticketing technology provider to the UK bus sector."
The technical landmark comes at a time of growing ITSO coverage, with Parkeon involved in a number of recent ITSO scheme roll-outs, including major projects for Centro, Merseytravel and Kent County Council. In addition, Arriva North East recently ordered 600 Wayfarer200 ETMs for the ITSO North East Smart Ticketing Initiative (NESTI) and East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) have ordered 330 units as part of their ticketing system refresh programme.
Parkeon were the first supplier to have an ITSO certified product and continue to demonstrate their strong commitment to smart ticketing in the UK.
