Leading ticketing specialist Parkeon has taken a major step into the UK rail market with news of RSP approval for its latest Astreo on-platform ticket vending machines.
Says Paul Moirano, Sales Director for Parkeon’s UK rail business: “The choice of ticket vending systems currently available in the UK is limited, so the arrival of Parkeon as a major supplier will be welcomed by all train operators, especially those who plan to increase or upgrade their self-service retailing systems. Not only is the cash and card Astreo available now but other TVMs in the same family are also in line for fast track approval.” Although the Astreo ticket machine is new to the UK, Parkeon already has extensive experience in providing service and maintenance support for UK TOCs, having successfully maintained large fleets of self service ticket machines for a competitor under demanding Service Level Agreement conditions. Furthermore, Parkeon’s leadership in smart ticketing and ITSO systems throughout the UK will be of great benefit to train operators who wish to take advantage of the new technology in rail retailing. Parkeon is currently involved in every major ITSO scheme and is processing millions of ITSO transactions every month. Parkeon is a leading supplier and integration partner for rail operations across Europe, notably in France where the company works closely with SNCF and RATP. In addition, its ticketing technology is at the heart of major multi-modal public transport projects in Belfast, Perth and Melbourne, where Parkeon systems are operating on rail, bus, ferry and tram
The arrival of Astreo reflects the successful partnership between the company’s engineering teams in Besancon and Poole, which is seen as central to future technological development.
