Real Time Information Group (RTIG)
RTIG or the Real Time Information Group was established in 2000 to provide a focus for those involved in the implementation and technical development of UK bus Real Time Passenger Information systems (RTPI). RTIG, a subscription group, has members from UK local authorities, bus operators and system suppliers, with representatives from the UK government and other key industry groups such as ITS(UK), Travel Information Highway, and the UTMC Development Group (UDG).
RTIG has many industry members made up of local authorities, bus operators and system suppliers, of which Parkeon is one.
The main output of the group is guidelines, standards, case studies and best practice documents. These documents are produced by RTIG on behalf of its members, usually with the assistance of specialist working groups.
Parkeon (formerly Wayfarer Transit Systems) were invited to join RTIG in 2002, following the substantial Government funding for projects around the UK, which provided an enormous boost to the development of RTI systems. Wayfarer was a key contributor in defining the standards of interfacing ticket machines with on-bus RTPI systems, where our entire range of ETMs are fully compatible with the standards in place today.
Parkeon fully endorse RTIG and continues to be involved in working groups to define new standards and interfaces, the latest being the GPRS and on-bus architecture working groups.
