Rail
Parkeon ticketing technology is widely applied across a number of rail
networks in Europe, with thousands of platform ticket vending machines
(TVM) providing cost-effective solutions for operators and third party
systems integrators.
Parkeon terminals offer mass-transit operators a fully scaleable and
cost-effective solution, with a variety of configurations and a choice
of user interfaces and payment methods.
Built on PC-based open architecture, these machines make it easy for
transport operators to develop and maintain specific functional
applications, while the company’s solutions for the centralisation of
terminals, e-parametrization, remote equipment supervision, data
management and analysis facilitate efficient management of operations.
SNCF overview
Parkeon is a long-term partner of SNCF (French National Railways) for more than 20 years. There have been several generations of automatic dispensers integrating new technologies. Today, the TVMs feature latest technologies for contactless, electronic ticket sales and issuing. A member of the Calypso network association, Parkeon participated in implementing and deployment of the Calypso card in Ile de France and the surrounding region. More than 2600 automatic ticket dispensers and 2000 contactless barrier validators have been installed as part of a successful project.
The company’s advanced ticket vending machines are the cornerstone of
ticket sales for the French regional transport network (TER and
Transilien). During peak periods, each TVM handles up to 1000
transactions per day, so ensuring a fast and efficient throughput of
passengers.
Uk Rail overview
In the Uk rail market, the Astreo ticketing machine and associated software received RSP certification. The choice of ticket vending systems currently available in the UK is limited, so the arrival of Parkeon as a major supplier will be welcomed by all train operators, especially those who plan to increase or upgrade their self-service retailing systems. Not only is the cash and card Astreo available now but other TVMs in the same family are also in line for fast track approval.
