Birmingham, October 5, 2011 - Arriva Yorkshire has signed a contract for Parkeon to deliver an ITSO-enabled smart ticketing platform for its 350 buses operating in and around Yorkshire.
The investment by the operator in Parkeon's Wayfarer200 technology will enable Arriva to interface to the Yorcard regional ITSO smartcard scheme, ensuring that English National Concessionary Travel Scheme card holders will benefit from seamless travel across the area. The on-vehicle ETMs and back-office technology will also provide, in time, a platform for the bus company to roll-out its portfolio of ITSO-enabled commercial products."This latest contract confirms the pre-eminent position of Parkeon in delivering the on-bus and back-office technology that is driving the development of ITSO schemes across the country," says Gavin Trimnell, Parkeon Head of UK Sales. "It also continues the positive relationship which we have enjoyed with Arriva UK Bus operators over many years."
Stuart Bear, Arriva Yorkshire Commercial Manager, welcomed the investment: "Not only will this new generation ticketing technology deliver productivity benefits through its smart data transfer and detailed market reports , it will also help create a better passenger experience for our concessionary card holders and – in time – enable us to offer a broad range of commercial smart card products for our entire customer base."
